Mopar Strut Rods and Bushings

I am finishing up getting my 64 Plymouth Savoy (I/SA 383) ready for stock this season and was wondering if any other Mopar racers can help me out. I was planning on running dynamic struct rods with the heim joints but now that the NHRA has clarified the rules concerning strut rods, what would be the best possible "legal" set up? Can we use an adjustable strut rod with the stock type bushings and if so, what are the best busings to use providing the best performance? Any other front suspension tips would be appreciated. I will be using the Calvert rear suspension setup including the mono leaf springs if that helps in providing an answer.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Mopar Strut Rods and Bushings

I have Energy Suspension bushings on my struts. They are 2-piece polyurathane with a bushing. Harder (less deflection) and more durable than rubber and easier to install than the 1 piece. The harder material may have an affect on how loose the suspension is, but I really think it's not enough to worry about.

Thanks for the info Myron. Anyone else have any ideas or feedback concerning the adjustable strut with the Energy Suspension bushings?

Again, thanks for the help !

Is there a place to put a grease fitting in them. I don't know what kind of shells they are in. You can do it with the GM's A and F bodies.

I use new stock stuff and change it out every two years. The car stops fine at the other end. I will not slide the front tires at the finish line because its dangerous. I have seen a racer let the air out of both front tires at 120+ mph, and then he hit the wall.

He was probably dizzy from chasing the valve stem at that speed
