Race Car Insurance
What companies offer insurance for a stocker? I did a little research and have found that a requirement for most companies is that it be transported inside a enclosed trailer. I was only looking for off-track coverage. Simply when it is being stored, transported, theft, fire, etc.....
I'ts bad enough that I'm a young guy and I spent about three years and countless amounts of work, money building this thing. And now I cant get it insured because I dont have a 15-20k enclosed trailer. Are there any companies out there that are willing to help a racer out who is on a budget and cant afford the stacker trailer and toter-home routine. Thanks for any help offered. D4 racers, I'll see you March 1st Should have been posted in the Stk/Super Stock section and not the tech section. My apologies. Chris |
Re: Race Car Insurance
I have used Bill Horton who carries a full line of Drag car insurance his number is 888 901-3849. He is in Connecticut but I think he can cover other states.

Re: Race Car Insurance
Thanks for the responses gentleman. I called Kincaid and they said Dick is getting out of the racecar policies. Said he was trying to relax and enjoy the good life. They recommended Gulfway which is one of the insurers that require an enclosed trailer during transport. Ill keep hunting around and hopefully I find something. Once again, thanks for the responses.
Thanks, Chris |
Re: Race Car Insurance
I've got a race car policy, had it for at least 6 years. Stated value. Typical policy with no on-track coverage. I can tow any way I want. $65K of coverage is about $395 annual. Maybe it's no longer the way they write the policy but call and check.
Here's what my bill says: American Modern Insurance Insurance Group Your Producer: Heacock Insurance Group c/o Heacock Classis Burns, TN 800-274-1804 Agent is Ford Walker Heacock Policy Type: Collector Vehicle Food for thought - It may be better if you go through your own agent and direct him to the source. I believe the issue is there are a lot of fraud issues with race cars that are mysteriously stolen or catch on fire, especially in a bad economy. Maybe a good reference by your own agent will carry some weight. |
Re: Race Car Insurance
I'm going to have to call Heacock - my $30k policy through them costs me $500 annually. I'm apparently doing it wrong!

Re: Race Car Insurance
I use Bill Horton who has provided Great American Insurance as the carrier. Bill is a racer too and very helpful. It is stated value and I have the race car, trailer, ATV, and tools covered. The policy covers anywhere within a sanctioned track up to but not including the racing surface.
