Battery Box?
Hey guys.....I have a 69 Camaro that will run high 9s. Battery has been moved to the trunk and it has a fuel cell in the trunk also. I plan on running it in NHRA Super Gas a couple times.... Does it need a battery box? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Battery Box?
You need to seal the drivers area off from the trunk with either sheet metal or aluminum. Not sure of the thickness though. I believe it's .032 aluminum or .026 steel. Check in the rulebook to be sure. Hope this helps.

Re: Battery Box?
No battery box required, last I looked. Must have 3/8" or larger hold down rods or all thread with metal cross bar,for the battery. Also, if you have a traditional battery, make sure you have it running across the trunk, so plates do not snap and ground internal, on launch. Do not run in direction of car...using gel or glass mat battery will also solve this, as they can face any direction with no problem.
As stated, trunk must be sealed with metal to close all opening, for both the fuel cell and battery. Good luck. Ken |

Re: Battery Box?
The 2 3/8" hold down bolts or rods cant just go thru the trunk floor and have a large washer under them. They must be attached to the frame or an extension from the frame so if an impact occurs the bolts just don't tear the sheet metal.
