Hotels in Gainesville

Hello...

I'm heading go the Gainesville national event after the Valdosta divisional. Can anyone recommend any good and relatively inexpensive hotels in Gainesville?

Thanks!

if u find a room you will be lucky!!!its usually sold out a year in advance--try looking in Lake city or Starke maybe further south on 75 too--- Good luck!!! the prices are jacked up 3-5 times more per nite than the weekend either before or after the races-- FED387

Good and relatively inexpensive. You aren't going to find. I chose as inexpensive as I could find The Knights Inn $389 for 4 nights. I know it isn't the Ritz-Carlton. It seems to be a dive. But I hope my wife won't divorce me for staying there. But I'm taking her to the IP casino in Biloxi for 3 days on the way to Belle Rose. So I hope she will be forgiving.

Not an easy task this close. The best hotel in Gainesville for racing is the Best Western at exit 390. I imagine they've been sold out for a while, as are the traditional racer hotels on Archer Rd (exit 384). Two other options:

On SW 13th St. (US 441 just south of the University), off the beaten path but very close to the track, are some OK motels. There is some parking lot crime in that area near the college so lock up.

Lake City is only 40 minutes from the track and has lots of decent motels near exit 427.

Thanks for the help on the hotel rooms. Didn't decide until a couple of weeks ago that I was going or I would have reserved earlier.

Thanks for the tip on calling Jackie. Hadn't given that a thought...
