Hemi B body shock tower modification?
The new Hemi is coming together and while it's out I need to modify the passenger side shock tower so I can get the valve cover off, Does anyone any experience on how the factory did this? Pictures would be great, lol. It looks like a drivers side mount turned upside down would work best but before I get the plasma cutter out I would like to hear what has been done in the past. Thanks.

I'm not so sure the valve cover won't come off without the mod.

I would be happier if I could leave the intake on to accomplish this due to the fact that I am extremely lazy and usually drunk after a long day of racing and apparently the Hemi requires having the valve spring pressure check quite often. 8000 thru the traps does that. Due to the above mentioned laziness and drunkenness I may put the four barrel back on it, Less chance of running a CJ in B/SA any ways but Dave Wren says real Hemi's have two carb's and he wont talk to me if I only have one. He is very stubborn about this! Thanks for the links guy's, I'm planning on cutting the old bitch up this weekend based on those pic's. What do you think of shortening up to the wheelbase NHRA show's as legal? And you thought the SS/AH were altered. lol |
Re: Hemi B body shock tower modification?
Be sure to post the "after" pictures. I love it when guys cut up a perfectly good car. And Dave Wren is correct on the carb count.

I don't want to hijack your thread but I have a question that the readers here should know. Question is can I install the "Race Hemi" into a 1964 Dodge 330? I see it in the guide but I haven't seen anyone run this combo in stock. Who runs this combo? Tom Nolan.

Re: Hemi B body shock tower modification?
Yes, I believe so. I think they started that a few years ago. Single four barrel. I think Barton was running one of those in a 65. There will be other people on here that know more about it than I do though.

Re: Hemi B body shock tower modification?
Should be A-OK. There are '65s and a '64 Savoy out there, so I see no reason that the '64 330.wouldn't be included.

Re: Hemi B body shock tower modification?
Tom, You can run it as a single four Nascar or Race Hemi with the crossram. The hood scoop is the hardest part to find. The 330 is a post car right? I don't think we are allowed to use a hardtop with a Hemi. At least I was told No regarding using my 65 Belvedere way back when this whole thing started.
Thanks for the picture Dale, I peeled most of the stickers off over the winter. I like it alot better without them. The "Goin Dutch" is still on it though, I'm having a hard time deciding on peeling them off. What do you guy's think? Leave them on or take them off? |
