O2 Sensor location? Collector or primary pipe

I have a data recorder that will record two O2 sensor readings. '
Would the collectors be the best spot since it has an open plenum intake I don' think you can really change it cylinder by cylinder.
Just interested in WOT air/fuel ratios.

Looks like we have to weld the collectors on anyway so there will be no air leaks from pipes to collectors.

Trying to decide whether to weld 8 bungs in primary pipes and two in collectors and switch the sensors around or just go with the collector??

Thanks,
Jok

With stagger jetting and other methods you can change the cylinder to cylinder mixture distribution.

However, most people are better off using EGT sensors in the individual primary tubes, and putting the O2 sensor in the collector.

Installing in the collector will give an average A/F reading for side of the motor. Typically when installed in the collector you will only get an accurate reading at higher rpm 3-4k plus, due to reversion effects at idle. Installing in header will give accurate reading from idle up, but only for that cylinder.

EGT's are not as accurate for precise tuning as wideband O2 sensors, but are more cost effective for matching cylinder to cylinder performance.
