Dave Boertman

1969 Chevrolet Biscayne,,,,,,,350/255 HP

Dave, knew how to pick the 'right car for the right class' better than any other Junior Stocker.

The 'yellow' 69' Biscyane {#3600 lbs.} classed in N/SA in 1970.

My dad was the wrench on the car.Sonny drove. When they got it from Tom,The car had a steel nose on it.When Tom was racing it he ran C/sa in the car.Sonny & my dad put it in SS/EA. They got the car into the 11 teens pretty easy on a 7" slick. They set the record @ colonial beach with the car @ 11.11.As the rules changed I believe around 72 they could run a 10" tire Petty engineering heads & also went to 4.56's the car went a 10.86 right off the trailer.I have tons of info on the car as I was in search of it about 2 years ago trying to locate it to buy it back to give to my dad.Last I heard a doctor has the car in New Jersey.Called him a few times & never got a response.I would love to have a chance to get it but it just does not seem like it is in the cards.Anyway any other info you would like message me.

Built and maintained by Joe Simon and me Rich Biebel...
Engine from T/K, Ralph Truppi and Tommy Kling
Driven for the record run and backup by Ray Allen just to reduce the chances of any driver error.
We were down to the last opportunity of the year to get the record and decided to ask Ray to drive it and he did.
The car was sold to Rich Decola and Paul Delvecchio and in this picture it was on their ramp truck in the gas station I worked at for years.......and built and maintained the car there as well....

We ran faster than the ET record and much faster than the MPH record......and the car ran more than 2 tenths faster than the existing record on it's third pass.

It was previously run as a Super Stocker.....and owned by Andy Spaziani and run with a 396/375 and ran very well in SS/E

Rich Decola held the SS/J record with it......and I watched him make some runs with it in SS trim and was amazed at how much faster it was with a cam and intake change.....11.40's and that was with a flat tappet cam I think and 9 or 10 inch tires.....

Our biggest disappointment was not qualifying at the 1970 SummerNationals at York and also missing the field at E-Town the following year.......

Today most everyone gets to race eliminations.......Thats not how it was in the old days......and it was heartbreaking to work so hard and not get a chance to race the eliminator.....We suffered that fate everytime we ran a National event with 2 different cars......and it was the main reason I quit and did not race a car for about 10 years.......
