Thanks to Jim Schaechter, Charlie Downing
After breaking the main shaft in my Jerico on the 1st Q. pass last weekend at Belle Rose, Jim, who I had not met before, escorted me around to all the 4spd people who may have a shaft, but we came up dry. Charlie, whom I had not met either, looked at my trans and said it was identical to his spare and told me to put it in my car and go racing! Then as I was getting it under the car to install it, Jim and another racer whom I hate to say I forgot his name, that happens more since I hit mid 60's, and they helped me put it in the car, in fact Jim was working circles around me. We got done just in time for me to make the last session and it went flawlessly down the track. I wish I had made better use of all the labor instead of going red in the 1st rd. But we still had a great time all the locals and track personel so nice and the food was great! Last time I went there Jimmy Hidalgo bailed me out when an out of balance rear tire shook my hood latch loose near the finish line, not nice! But again the race family comes thru wouldn't it be awesome if everyone was like that! Thanks again guys! and happy Easter, lets not forget what He did for us!!

Kenny stick guys have to help each other out. No to many of us. I have been lugging around a spare mainshaft in my trailer for 2 years. Hope I never need it!

There really are some great people in racing. I love to hear these stories as it restores some of my lost faith in humanity!

Re: Thanks to Jim Schaechter, Charlie Downing
You'll meet some of the greatest people in racing. It may be very competitive from prestage to shutdown. But any other time it's a big family that's willing to help anyway that they can. Granted not everyone is like that but those who are, their stories certainly over power and out shine the negative ones.
Great Job guys! |

[QUOTE=Stick Racing;375750]Just remember:
Race car parts are like women. Ya always gotta have a spare... I asked my wife if I could have a spare. she said after the divorce I probably couldn`t afford the shifter. its ironic at last years Cajuns Jim lent Brad Z a Chevrolet driveshaft for the mustang. good deeds always come back to help u. Jim and Charlie are good people |
