Plymouth Aluminum Q?
Can you run fiberglass or steel instead of aluminum fenders/hood etc since they are all but nonexistent in NHRA classes?
Thank you. Well in classes where applicable. |
Re: Plymouth Aluminum Q?
only in IHRA you can use fiberglass or combo steel and fiberglass.
in NHRA need all alum |
Re: Plymouth Aluminum Q?
426 Race Hemi cars with 2 carbs were available from factory with either steel or aluminum components (fenders, hood & scoop) depending on plant supply at the time motor installed in car.
426 Race Hemi cars with 1 carb were available from factory with steel components (fenders & hood) with the addition of steel or aluminum hood scoop.. 426 Wedge Al component car required to have aluminum hood with hood scoop, & both aluminum front fenders to be classified as aluminum component car This is from the bottom of the 1964 Plymouth classification spreadsheet. I'd be happy to be able to run a fiberglass hood and scoop and keep my steel fenders. Sure would save a ton of money. I haven't seen an aluminum front clip for sale in over 10 years. |
Re: Plymouth Aluminum Q?
I know of a complete aluminum front clip for a 64 Dodge. Fenders are NOS. It is complete with all of the parts. PM me if interested. Dyno

Re: Plymouth Aluminum Q?
Thanks for the responses. So you can run a 64 savoy in say ss/b with the steel components.
I think I've seen one 63' dodge fender for sale, but not many others. Aluminum and Steel scoops are being reposed at about $1300 each. |
