stock and super stock racing
Why doesn't NHRA go back to running off the national record like in the "old" days for stock and super stock eliminations. Use the CIC like comp to eliminate 'sand bagging". Get rid of the now glorified bracket racing style of todays stock/ SS racing.

Car counts would plummet

Nice well thought out idea. You think people are slamming the brakes on at 1000' now, imagine how this would change things...

Re: stock and super stock racing
One problem would be with the proper teardown. West coast rules East coast rules ETC.
If you want to stop the guys running to the 1000' mark. It's simple, take out the 1000' clocks. Nhra can't estimate what a combo should go based on the 1/8 mile numbers. 2 cars in the same class can run way different 1/8 mile numbers. But at the 1/4 mile be almost indentical. |

Re: stock and super stock racing
The answer is very simple: if you run off records there won't be any racing except rich people! That's one reason why it was changed to index racing.
I can run 5 or 6 under with my Max wedge because I do it all on my own budget; the killers in the same class can run a full second or more under because they have sponsors and money, why would I want to continue racing? JimR |

The high dollar guy will always have the advantage in heads up racing. No matter how you look at it.

The racer that has the most money to spend will have the fastest car. Always been that way and always will be that way. There are no rules to enforce that will change that. The racer that owns the slower car can either lift at 1000ft and pick a safe ladder spot or chance getting their butt kicked in a round 1 heads up race. Ask me how I know that. |
