Stockers winning at Spring Fling Vegas!

Brad Burton led the charge of a number of Class Racers who are competing at the Inaugural K&N Spring Fling Vegas big money bracket race, promoted by Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel. Burton walked away with the Big Check in the Pro category on Warmup Thursday, defeating NHRA Summit ET Finals Champ Seth Polvadore in the finals. 375 cars made first round between Pro and Super Pro, with more racers still coming in throughout the day, getting ready for three more days of racing.

(Before anyone remarks on the dial-in, this is a 1000' event, just like the K&N Spring Fling 20's at Bristol!) :D

Congrats Brad!

Michael, I have a side question. I know for a fact that guys can run transbrakes and footbrake two steps out there. Where is the cutoff in the country for bracket racing that is footbrake only? Or is that just an east coast thing?

Before reading the disclaimer on the ET, I thought that was awful slow for eighth mile, which most high count bracket races are....got to remembering the year or so Manhattan, Kansas ran 1000', which I think is a perfect distance....bad things happen that last 320'

Since the Pros are at 1000', maybe its time to change? (they seem to forget to reformat track cones anyway)

Flame on you 1320 luddites

Just top fuel dragster and funny car. Not pro stock motorcycle or car.
I'm not sure everybody in the country is ready to go to 1000' or 1/8 mile. The 1000' deal is a nice compromise.

Depends on the track, although it seems like No-Box rules are encroaching on Footbrake areas a little more all the time. The southeast and mid-south has a number of areas that are starting to go No-Box, at least per Bracket Finals rules, but a lot of tracks are holding out, too. North Carolina and NHRA Div. 1 are the strongest Footbrake areas.

In some "No-Box" areas, the vast majority are running a transbrake, but in others, there remains a high percentage of footbrakers, despite being allowed more driver aids by the rules. (ie., I run Super Stock, but still footbrake and shift by hand, etc.) I think Texas and the southeast (SC through FL) are the most split right now.

Thanks Michael. It's tough to bracket race a stickshift car in the northeast. The only way is to run super pro against 50K dragsters with delay boxes. Hopefully that nobox deal will encroach a little further this way.

We permit a 2-step on Stick cars at our Footbrake events (Loose Rocker Promotions - www.looserocker.com ). Didn't know you weren't allowed in your area. Come on down for a $5K/$20K/$5K Fall Footbrake Frenzy, Thanksgiving weekend in NC! :D I've actually been toying with the idea of doing a Stick Shootout at that event just to get more stick cars to participate. We usually have a couple, but I know there's a lot more out there between the GearJammers, Pro Stick, and other associations.
