Re: spray on header coating
If you're refering to this...
http://www.eastwood.com/silver-hi-temp-coating.html it's a high temp paint(1200 degree) no different than any other hi temp paint. I've used VHT's for many years and it held up well on clean/ sandblasted headers. |
Re: spray on header coating
I can't say how well the aerosol can method works, but I have sandblasted several sets of headers that were coated with this product either brushed on with foam brushes or sprayed on. The sprayed headers seemed to turn out with a more even finish, but the brushed ones were not bad. The key is to sandblast them as clean as possible, be sure to wipe off any spots where they will have any oil residue on them from your hands and fingers then follow the directions closely on drying time and getting them back on the engine to fire it up and cure the coating. For the money it's a good product.
Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham & WB Hutto |
Re: spray on header coating
Ditto---remeber to wipe them clean with DENATURED ALCOHOL or ACETONE--- it removes the oil from your skin when handling them and leaves no residue whereas mineral spirits or lacquer thinner will leave some residue on the metal and impede adhesion of the spray

Re: spray on header coating
I don't know about their spray coatings ,but , like Joe, I've used Eastwood's brush on stainless coating many times over the years ,and if the surface is blasted before painting ,It lasts for years!
