Chevy ss block?

I have a chance to aquire a little m dart block @ a very reasonable price (nhra accepted piece) weighing 204lbs. bare its probably heavier than a bowtie unit...is the extra weight being up front going to hurt performance? (SS/GT application/327/3spd/q-jet) any input is appreciated. thankyou!

So you have a line on a little M block at a good price eh....

Well, that block would slow your car down at least 6 tenths, and you wouldnt be able to qualify anywhere in the country.... Therefore, I think you need to give me the contact information for the block, so that I can purchase it at once, just to save any other racer the grief of having it ruin their combo :D:D:D

Seriously, I wouldnt think the extra 20 lbs would even be noticed, and from what I have heard about the M stiffness, it may make more HP and be quicker overall...

good one kevin...you had me nibbling! any engine builders know for sure if a dart will make more power over a bowtie, all components (except the block) being equal?

I have used both and I can't see where there would be any difference in power between the 2 blocks.

Personally, I'd call Dart and ask them what the "big deal" is. I have to imagine that extra 20#'s is there for a reason.

What is the P/N of the Bowtie If your comparing bore size to bore size the blocks should be pretty close in weight. What is the PN of the Bowtie in question? As some of the older bowtie blocks were offered in a small bore non Siamese cylinders.

Your question should be: How will the 20 lbs on the front of the car help me?
With the suspension set up properly the extra 20 lbs on the front my help your car E.T. It may help you keep it off the wheeliebar crutch.

carl i'll get the numbers...im also going to weigh everything again. I believe the difference between the two is #50. if its #20 im not going to fuss over that amount...I hear ya Auger as ive seen people place another touch on the front for that reason.
