Who didn't see this coming? - Barton

NHRA Levies Fines Against Participant
The NHRA imposed a two thousand five hundred ($2,500) fine against David Barton for violating NHRA Rules, particularly Section 1.3.1 of the 2013 NHRA Rulebook on Participant Conduct at the recently completed Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J. Barton engaged in inappropriate behavior and used profanity after receiving instructions from NHRA’s Chief Starter to return to his vehicle and exit the race track during the second round of eliminations. Barton also is required to formally apologize to NHRA’s Chief Starter for his unacceptable sportsmanship. Any further incidents will result in additional disciplinary action up to, and including, suspension of competition privileges. The fine must be paid in full prior to Barton being eligible to participate at any future NHRA events. The fine is appealable, as outlined in section 1, pages 16-23 of the 2013 NHRA Rulebook.

Should take up a collection and pay this.

I would pay it in pennies if I was Barton.

Just my .02 cents!

Can the racers levy a fine against NHRA for not supplying us with the proper racing surface? This is BS that a guy, who spun his *** off on a sub par National Event track, can't vent a little for NHRA failing to establish the proper racing surface. Just my opinion.

How about a fine to NHRA for usafe track preparation! Barton had every right to voice his opinion... mabe someone should have wrecked their car or worse to get their attention .

So counterfeit SFI tags cost $5000, words cost $2500. NHRA should have refunded hi entry, not fined him

And you think they would have done anything differently? You can tell from Barton's recent posts that he is still hot. Think the apology will be the tough part to swallow. Think the starter apologized to all the racers that lost because of the track? You think the Pro Stock guys don't bit.. at the starter when the tracks are always prepped for the fuel cars regardless of what they need? Sure they do, but they make clutch and other changes to compensate. If class racers are going to play by NHRA's rules then they've got to be prepared to do the same.

X 2 !
this is an unacceptable practice. NHRA should have a safe, fair place to race, not a skating rink. more people will wreck or be killed on these unsafe tracks! NHRA "dedicated to safety", Right.....
