IHRA - Memphis Event -- records question

Anyone know if a racer can set both the 1/8th and 1/4 mile records at the same time at the Memphis event ?

Also....does IHRA issue "paper trophies" (certificates) for new record setters like NHRA does ?

They issue certificates. Don't know about the 1/8 and 1/4 stuff.

I haven't got it confirmed yet from Frank Kohutek, (Div. 4 Director) but Mike Baker told me today that most of time if the race is contested on the 1/4 mile, then only the 1/4 mile record can be set.
Maybe Mr. Kohutek will call me back.

If that is true, then that sucks. If a racer is going thru all the trouble to set a record and teardown, and the 1/8th mile timers are already on anyway, then why not let 'em go for both records ?

you get both at NHRA just make sure you request it

Since you get the 1/8th times on a 1/4 mile pass, what could be the reasoning there?

Just got off the phone with the Div. 4 director and he did not have a problem with setting both 1/8 and 1/4 at the same time.

Even better, they will seal my engine before the record attempts so I can race Sat. and Sun. , then do the teardown at the London , KY event. :)
Nice.

Nice.

A few years ago, at our local track, there was an div race and it was 1/8mile only event, but 1/4 mile track, we were able to set both records, BUT Frank specifially told us we had to tear down and checked before the rec runs....Wasnt to pleased about that, but hey, we played by there rules.. good luck
