Carb Size for Engine

Hi guys, got some really good info before so back again.

Have a Hardtail Undercover RED, runs 8.111 at 157 mph consistent, want to go quicker and the motor needed a birthday so we are going from Flattops to 14-1 and changing from Petrol to Alky.

Have a 750 Alky carb, not sure of what sort of fuel system, (80-A but need bypass & **** I guess) and whether the 750 is big enough?

Recommendations please.Thanks heaps

Geoff in Sydney Australia.

Re: Carb Size for Engine

Sorry Tim

What a dunce I am, 406 Sb Chev, 4.155 bore x 3.750 stroke, 620 lift roller, Dart 23 Deg heads. Super Victor intake, heads ported, don't have flow figures.
5200 stall, 4.29 gears, 31.5 tyre, 7400 in the lights.

Like I said went 8.111 at 157, runs 5.00 at 131 in the 1/8, looking for more, so going from flat tops to 14-1.

Thanks
Geoff

What's with the hummmm? Don't believe the ET?

The thing runs 8.11's to 8.20's all the time, super reliable and has had no real issue up until a couple of weeks ago when it chucked out a head gasket, hence the opportunity to freshen it up and to run that "7" I feel it needs more comp.

If you think I am bull****ting go to this website,
www.sydneydragway.com.au

then results and go to the 2013 Nitro Champs in the Modified Bracket, car number 109, driver's name is Fiona, my 22 year old daughter, look at the info, it's all there, no bull****.

Not out of the question if it's light enough. What carb were you running, how much does the car weigh?

Re: Carb Size for Engine

Car weights 1520 pounds wet with Driver, had a Proform 850 with 92 fronts, 98 rears, no P/V, and was running out of fuel pressure in the lights, only 4 pounds.

Used Sunoco 112 fuel with the flat tops, changing to 14-1 and Alky, hence the need for Carb & Fuel Pump suggestions.

Like I said go to the website for the proof.

Thanks
Geoff

I run a 432 in a 2700 door car using a BLP belt driven pump with a APD 950 HP running high 9.20 and have no problem still have 11 lbs through traps.

Thanks for that info, do you run a bypass on that or run all the fuel through the carb?

Pump has a built in bypass no need for return line to cell.
