Gas Monkey Built COPOs?
WTF?
http://www.2013copocamaro.com/ Welcome to 2013COPOCAMARO.COM, a site established by Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage and Dennis Collins of Collins Bros Jeeps to promote and sell what we consider to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase and specify your own CRC (Certified Race Chassis). Build your own COPO Camaro BODY-IN-WHITE Program Car. These are the rarest Camaros ever offered and built at the COPO plant. Only 20 are being produced. There's no lottery system; we're selling them on a first-come-first-serve basis. You get to specify or use your own drivetrain. Please read the press release for full details. Many of these will be true one-off cars. Word is that they will not be produced again. In 2012, 69 COPO cars were produced. In 2013, 69 more COPO cars are scheduled to be produced (all are pre-sold). There are 20 Build Your Own COPO Camaro BODY-WHITE Program Cars serialized 1-20 all built and soon to be released. Go to Cars For Sale Page for Availability. These are incredibly rare! The actual build certificates for available cars are issued in the name of Gas Monkey Garage with the exception of car #13 which is issued to Dennis Collins. Cars are available without drivetrains for immediate delivery. Payment in full is required for initial car purchase. If you want the car completed turn-key, we will quote that when you select your drivetrain. Once drivetrain is specified and funds are received in full, please allow 1-5 months completion time depending on the engine you chose. The end of COPO production is estimated to be late October 2013. |
Re: Gas Monkey Built COPOs?
From what I understand, they got one actual COPO which they sold at BJ (The silver car). I had heard that they had also bought what remained of the CRC cars. I am surprised that they are marketing them under the COPO name.
This is the original press release. http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...camaro-rc.html |
Re: Gas Monkey Built COPOs?
I wonder if the price of the turn key models include the after build donut burnouts they do ? (as seen on their show)

Interesting.....to say the least.
To say more...do they slap some GMG stickers on them and then resell them? So I take it GM built more then people wanted or did GMG order 20 of them? |

There was also a no-sale (reserve not met) on Ebay recently. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290979441850...84.m1423.l2649 |
Re: Gas Monkey Built COPOs?
So buy it now is 85k as roller with GMG stickers?. From GMPP without the stickers is 55K? Looks like it got up to 65k.
It doesn't surprise me a whole lot. They've been on TV so people will buy the stuff just to feel special. TV shows have been illustrating that there is a lot of money to be made in the car industry. I've made some money on cars but not the amount these TV stars(fast and loud, chasing classic cars, counting cars, etc) (kinda like storage wars where everything was golden). |
Re: Gas Monkey Built COPOs?
You are correct. If Chevy sold them for 55k and Gas Monkey Garage is adding a GMG sticker package then attempting to flip them for 85k... THATS INSANE.
