Ford 302 stocker camshaft ?
94 Ford 302 in a Mustang, question is can a non roller block be used with conventional after market roller lifter be used or is a OEM style roller block with the Ford roller link system required?

Re: Ford 302 stocker camshaft ?
Pat,
I think Crane or Comp made a conversion kit that was used to run a hydraulic roller cam in a Pre-hydraulic roller cam block. I am not sure it is even available anymore. I thought about trying that in my 83 to see if the 85 combo was worth it many years ago. Not sure if that would be a legal stocker deal though? Sean |
Re: Ford 302 stocker camshaft ?
As long as it remains a hdraulic roller lifter I don't see why there would be a problem.
Doesn't say in the engine specs it has to be original 1994 hr lifters. |
Re: Ford 302 stocker camshaft ?
What about the block itself? The only approved replacement block that I see is the new Boss block. Could you use a Mexican block, or another Ford 302 block (other than a roller block)?

Re: Ford 302 stocker camshaft ?
Pat, Yes !! I currently have a 68 Mexican block w/ Ford 5.0 lifters. To use the factory lifters you need to order a spider kit and drill and tap the block. Note: this needs to be done before the cam bearings go into the block. The two holes you will be drilling just happens to hit the cam number #2 and #4 cam bores. NHRA has approved aftermarket retro fit lifters w/tie bars. Many companies offer these lifters. NHRA did not approve them until after my engine was assembled. I hope this helps.
