Tranny Decisions

First let me start off by saying, I do not have a car, but help my father in law wrench on his current build, which started its life as a 2011 Mustang V-6. Its being built into a Super Stock, and just so I'm on the same page and know what I'm talking about, I figured I would join a forum, and start picking brains. I'm on a couple other forums, and figured their had to be one for this as well. So on to my questions

-First, is there a FAQ that I cant seem to find?

-I dont know what motor hes going with, but he is building a Cobra jet, because of the engine that originally came in that, so I'm guessing along those same lines..... Whats a good reliable C-4, 4 speed tranny for this set up? He has said two names in particular, Coan which I have found, and torqueflite. I cant find anything on the torqueflite, which seems to be what he wants to go with.

- My father in law doens't do the whole computer thing, so I try and research this stuff, as I'm handy with a wrench, and racing has always interested me anyways. I should add, he already has a top dragster, and this will be his second build. Thanks for the help!

Are you looking for a Forum FAQ? It's right below the DRC and NHRA/IHRA quick-launch buttons above this thread.

It's great that you're able to get involved with helping your father-in-law with his Mustang project. That's what drag racing should be about - family working and staying together!

You've come to the right place to get the help you need. Just ask intelligent questions and the very knowledgeable folks here will be happy to share their expertise.

BTW - You can Google "Joel's on Joy" and get their contact info in Detroit, MI.

Good Luck!

If you're trying to make a decision, I'll give you some advice. Don't be a tranny.
