If you want to single for a Wally...race a Harley
NHRA had a press release about their self described "wildly popular" Harley Davidson racing program.
I think HDs are cool enough, and Drag Racing them seems like a Fun thing also. I just did not recall these races. I did a little research from 2013. What a huge embarassment this is! Many of the classes were not represnted or only had ONE bike show up! One race had two guys that raced in two different categories and were the only two that showed! I get it, NHRA probably bundled it with their ProStock Bike rules payoff deal, but to describe it as wildly popular? Shows how inept their Marketing is. If they think this program is successful, they must think Stock and SuperStock is awesome! Now back to reality... Maybe we should rent some Harleys and support this class when we are racing our lowly Class Cars! http://www.nhraracer.com/content/gen...702&zoneid=175 |

they were at Virginia's Nhra Divisional last year, most of us had no clue why they were there. the top fuel bike(s) is kind of cool, but as an add on series to be described as "wildly popular" someone needs to get a grip.

While 'wildly popular' is a stretch I watched some of the Harley action at this fall's Bristol Divisional. Bikes have always done pretty well in Bristol and I was impressed by some of the operations that ran there. While I'm sure some of it has to do with Harley's association with NHRA if it helps crowds and the track operators I'm all for it. You never can tell when a spectator is drawn to the track for the bikes and ends up becoming a convert to bracket racing and then progressing to class racing.
