Camaro subfame repair question

The subframe for my 69 Camaro stocker project need some work around the body mounts.
I picked up a pre made bracket kit.
My question..... can I weld the plates to the top or do they need to be cut out and fitted. Im using Speedtech solid body mounts, was thinking of milling them down the thickness of the plates to keep everything the same height.

I prefer to cut out and fit the plates.

I like putting the plate on top of the rusted bracket. In doing that I did pick up some carb to hood clearance.

X2 ..Of course you can pick that up with the mounts themselves.

I've seen those subframes out of square too so watch for that.

I cut mine out and replaced with heavier steel.
