Diesel pusher question

I'm currently looking into buying a diesel pusher to pull my trailer. I'm looking @ a 34' 99 Winnebago adventurer w/ the cummins 275. The Winnebago has the freightliner chassis and the unit itself only has 27k on it. The owner said he had a mild tune put on the engine and said its tuned for 300 hp. Would this be enough to pull a 9k lb 26'enclosed trailer? I'm on a budget and cant afford anything too new.

Re: Diesel pusher question

"Tuning" or adding a power box to the 99 Cummins ISB can result in injection pump failure, especially if the lift pump dies. At a minimum, add a fuel pressure gauge before the injection pump.

We tow with one and it is great. ONE major issue. The engine blocks are known to crack. We had to replace the motor at 75,000 miles. This is a very known problem. Look it up on google. Not all blocks are defective, about 50%. It cracks on the driver side right below the head. PM me your phone number and I can give you the details. I would hate to see anyone have to go though what we did!!

Advice is free---- Experience is Priceless !
Depending on your budget I would drop back a couple of years to a 97 or so and get a MH with a Cummins 8.3C All Mechanical injection system- No ECM or finicky sensors to deal with on occasion. Plenty of power for your needs and easy to service.
2nd -- Shop for a MH in Florida- That's where all the retirees are that decide to sell after they move .
Good luck
