Sportsman Championship Formats
Wondering which way you like the best. The NHRA way of points to determine the champion or the IHRA way of a runoff race to crown the champ.
In our series, Buckeye Stock SuperStock Series, we used the runoff method and it has worked well. We used the winner and runner up from every race to qualify participants. We also kept track of points. We wanted 16 racers to battle for the championship and finished filling the field based on points. NHRA does use the runoff style to determine the Bracket Series world champions from divisional level to the world champion runoff. Jeff Ross |
Re: Sportsman Championship Formats
Jeff, my preference is the NHRA-style format because it rewards those who make a committment to a season long chase involving all the challenges that come along with it. A single race shootout is fair in that it crowns the deserving "driver of the day", but ignores the peripheral stuff that I mentioned.

Re: Sportsman Championship Formats
IHRA format with some sort of previous race winners only at the last race for the championship. MAke it a double elimination tournament and if racer wins more than one event he gets a wildcard (buyback) for each additional race won. The only reason to laydown at any event would be if it is teammates in a final and 1 does not have a win. (yes it will need more detail but it is a start)
Wildcard rewards the racers that go to all the races. while still giving the local racers a shot at national championship This will avoid any of the following QUOTE Another thread " Sliding thru the lights " Your 2013 stock elimantor world champ is a ***!ing joke. Congrats on buying your championship. Way to earn it Justin. What the total rounds purchesed 5 or 6 it's been hard to keep up with ***** clowns like you. Drew skillman is the real world champ, never purchased any rounds and drove his ***** off all year. Congrats Drew on a great year. It's to bad one worthless racer cheats the whole system. END QUOTE |
