Re: Where Is it now ?
Ok, This will be long no matter how I explain it. I pretty much have the history of this car all the way back to how Ben Owens got it & how.I have talked to alot of people along the way, meeting alot of good people along the way in the quest to find this car, not for what it was originally, but in the as raced form.Fast forward from that picture to 1971. My dad Tom Sr. Raced with & was also the mech. for a local Baltimore racer Im sure alot of you would know. Sonny Freeman.Sonny drove the Anderson Olds, then the Hydrophobia Wagon,And many others. They both left anderson Olds, & went to work for Fox Chevorlet. Sonny & my dad had close ties with alot of the racers then in the Md. area. They sold the wagon & went to englishtown to make the deal on the panther. They bought the car, A international crew cab, & a trailer. The stories I have heard are that the truck & trailer came from Sox. The car had a steel nose on it at the time. My dad never knew it was an aluminum nose car until I found out about it.I never tolod him I was looking for the car, my plan was to buy it & restore it to as raced by them.Anyway they decided to change the car up & race in Super Stock. Naturally the car went into SS/EA. This is when it still had a 7" tire on it. With some massaging the car ran a 11.11 @ colonial beach & was good enough for a record. They ran the car all around, Capitol, cecil county,75&80ect. Around late 72 the rules were changed, Along with the motor hurt in the car they sent the motor out, had the heads done by Petty engineering, 4.88 rear, 10" tire & a few more things. Brought the car back out & set the new record @ 10.86, They then sold the car to Sam Panute. Lost for a long time after that. I ended up finding out that a local racer named Harry Huntsberry had it. He never knew it was the car as it had been repainted when Sam got it. Then it was off the radar until about 2 or three years ago when I was looking really hard for it.I found that a guy on the west coast had it & i called to find out it had been sold to a Dr. Here on the east coast, I have the doctors # but would never get a return phone call from him. I am pretty sure the car is in wisconson beeing restored to the original color combo as we speak. I was totally sick to my stomach when I found out it was the only black with red int. Belvedere ht. High comp. car built. I knew it was stupid money at that point.I was in for a total restoration beeing a normal max car but that was the thing that put it out of the realm.Everyone I talked to after that said to just build a clone......I just cant do that.I wanted the real deal. sure it would be cool to do another but it's just not the car. I told you this would be long.lol this was a very short version. If ANYONE knows the person that bought it, And is having it restored, Please put me into contact with him. I have a few pics of it but they are paper copies .I have a few on the comp. I will try to post.....Tom

Re: Where Is it now ?
Did anyone find the Alum front end ? I borrowed it in 73 to run on Stein's 64 and painted it red for the Div. finial race at Atco than returned it to Tommy Marota.
