Crank Triger Wire

To the wire guys,
how would you route the crank trigger wire, over the top of the engine under the intake to the crank, or on the inner fender to the crank???? Would there be an advantage fender over engine???

Comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob Lasko

I found it easiest along the fender , out of the way , more room through the firewall had to extend the wire about 4 ' to box in the backseat---Trevor

Make sure you keep it away from water pump or alternator wires.

Was told not to run the wire along side of anything that was hooked to electric motor unless it was shielded. Tom

If using a shield ground msd wire, can it be run along the same wire as the cooling fan?????????

I would not. Why ask for ignition trouble? It can be one of the hardest things to track down and deal with. The crank trigger wire is extremely sensitive to EMI and other electrical influences. It really needs to be run all by itself and carefully shielded completely.

Also only ground one end of the shielding. If you ground both ends you will make it a EMI antenna.

Bob, run the crank trigger separate from all other wires you'll be much happier for it.

I use the MSD shielded ground wire, a keep it as far away from other wires.
I also ground the heads to the block.
