Backspacing

Does anyone know the backspacing on a 1963 Dodge Polara - stock eliminator car for a 10 inch wheel. I have an 8 in wheel now. The car has cal-tracs. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Backspacing

If your current 8" wheel puts the tire where you want it, add 1" to its backspacing.

One other thing, the section width of the tire will probably increase a little, about .3" in and .3" out at the sidewalls, with the wider wheel.

Re: Backspacing

You might have to bend the inner lip of the wheel opening too.

Re: Backspacing

I had 10 inch with 4 1/2 BS 64 Ply. With 65 rear end with no Key axles.
Wider/ Later Rear End will require more BS. What year rear end are you
using and what width and I can tell you more exactly?

Most everybody who ran these cars replaced the weak and difficult to remove
Keyed axles with a later model rear. Many years had the same spring perch
width ( about 44 inches ) but differing widths of housings affecting the back spacing
choice.

You should have some leeway because we used to run 10.5 width in SS without any
mods except wheel lip.

Re: Backspacing

I bought the car out of Mass. and I don't really know what year rear is in the car, but I do have an 8" rim on the car now w/4 1/2' bs on the car now.
