TPI Injection help
 

I have an 88 camaro with TPI and the Holley 950 Commander ECM. How or where can I go to learn how to use this. I know that I have to buy the software and cord from Holley for my laptop in order to be able to download the info but how do I learn how to understand what I'm looking at? How and when do I know when to make changes? Is this stuff hard to learn?

Is this a stocker? Do you have the instruction manual that comes with the Holley system?

Yes this a natural J car that I bought from Anthony Bertozzi. This was the former Jim Harrington car. I've never had any manuals for it and I really know nothing about TPI. This is a great car but I just need to learn how to tune it should it be necessary.

I was able to get the guys at Holley to email me all the files for the manuals and instructions when I was working on a car for a friend. They may still have them all in pdf format, you can print them out. I do not have those files anymore, I looked.

Save yourself a bunch of time and hassle and get a Fast Xfi 2.0 system.

1.Goto the Holley site
2.Under products click on EFI fuel injection then on Holley Commander 950
3.Click on Commander 950 multi point service parts
4. Scroll down to part Number 534-144 and click on it
5. Under technical information click on instructions for part number 534-144

This will bring up the instruction manual for Holley Commander 950 and you can read it or print it out from there.

If you decide you want to tune your ECM beware you will need a antique laptop to do it. I think the last computer made that will work with the software is Windows 2000 which my understanding is a fairly old.

Ask your friends for their old laptops till you find one that will work for you.

Time on a chassis dyno is money well spent.

Fast XFI is the way to go if purchasing new.

I run my Holley commander 950 pro software with XP operating system and a older Panasonic Toughbook, works just fine. I thought that Holley system is a fairly simple system to use, as long as you are doing data logging with a wide band o2. The only clunky part of the software is that you have to retrieve your data after a run, save it as a data logged run then reopen it again. Not a big deal.

I had no experience with the system and got the best advice to figure it out myself as I will need to retune at the track. I forgot my book my first time out, but once I figured out the main menus and the easy way to move the fuel graphs with keystrokes instead of entering numbers it was all down hill. Figured it out playing with it 1/2 day at the track. Read the basics, and you'll enjoy being able to tune your full fuel and timing curve with clicks of a mouse and punching a few keys.

DO you have any experience with fuel injection? IF not, before tinkering with the fuel injection you must first learn how to back up your existing tune and save the file. Even the best tuners can get lost quickly. I know Fast offers a course on tuning, do not know about Holley .

If car is running good now leave it alone and maybe hook up with someone at the track that has experience with the same system to help you fine tune.
