John…I believe that number is from a 1964-65 Mopar Hemi 2x4 barrel cross ram set up. If there is a small tag hanging off one of the top screws it should have a letter and another number following the "S", this will represent the month and year. If you have 2 of them it would be like winning at Bingo. Good Luck…MB.

The Carburetor Shop in Eldon, MO is a wealth of information about Cater carburetors and an unequalled source for hard to find parts. When Carter went out of business, they purchased all the blueprints and rights to Carter carburetor designs for pre-1974 carburetors. http://www.thecarburetorshop.com

Re: Carter AFB Carb info ?

I must have really been lucky, as I have 3 of the 3861s carbs ! Really nice shape, as I
've had them for about 30 years, or more ! I kind of thought that they were off of the 64 Hemi cars, just wasn't sure ! If anybody has an idea of the air flow and worth, and or demand ! Thanks a lot.......John

Re: Carter AFB Carb info ?

It is the same carb as the 3705 that the 64 Dodge and Plymouth Max Wedge uses. Different jetting and metering rods, maybe air bleeds too. They were replaced with Holley Carbs later in the year.
