How does a Throttle Stop know it's a burnout
 

Hey Guys
The continuing saga of Geoff in Sydney Australia with his daughters Dragster, stop worked great and car ran 9.53 x 4 times, now......

When you step on it in the burnout it just barely makes 3000 RPM, works OK on the stands, shifts good and revs up but on the track it sucks.

Any help or comments would be appreciated, it's a Dedenbear Electric Stop.

1. Is stop coming on during burnout?
2, Have you checked convertor stall? under no load, it would rpm but under load doesn't if no good.

As Gary says, with a rolled sprag in converter you won't get any rpm under load. Check stall speed on transbrake on jack stands and see where it goes.

That's what I first thought, got a 4800 chip in the brake and it hits that on the stands when we do the Trans Brake check.

When you hit the throttle in the burnout it runs and sounds like the butterflies are just opening.

That is what I meant when I asked the question, how does the stop know NOT TO WORK in the burnout?

Dumb question but I can't get my head around it.

The throttle stop is activated by the transbrake button and throttle stop controler, When she is doing a burnout, is she depressing any button at all? Such as a 3 step or anything? Depending on how things are wired, if she is, that may be activating the throttle stop as well.

A Dedenbaer electric plate stop needs to be powered to be wide open.

In the old days when we used those stops with no timer.....I had a toggle switch to power it on the burnout....so it would be wide open.....that circuit just over rode the other normal circuit....

after that it was powered thru a switch on the shifter....wide open in low gear only....

If you are taking power away during the burnout the blades will close....

1. Which delay box are you using? What are your timer settings?
2. Turn on the main power, then the ignition.
3. Look at your throttle stop and see if it is closed.
4. Push and hold the TB button. Did the stop change positions?
5. If so, you probably have the stop wired backwards.
6. You can change this with the delay box. Just depends on which one you are using.
