Black AN Hose
I installed new Earl's Black AN Hose when I re-built my car approximately 4 years ago. Over the years, I have noticed it is getting harder / less flexible each year. The shape I formed for my carb line is especially inflexible. I have a Product Engineering Pump and am afraid I will blow these lines apart with the pressures this pump makes. I do not want to re-plumb the car, but would hate to burn it down over a few hundred dollars of fuel line.

Re: Black AN Hose
This happens with all hose , it's just more obvious with the cloth covered hose than the wire covered type .
I replace my fuel hoses every 3-4 years to avoid problems from deterioration . |
Re: Black AN Hose
If you decide to change, I recently changed over from the black nylon braided hose to fragola series 6000 ptfe lined steel braided hose and use their real street fittings. I am very happy with this so far. no more fuel smell.

Re: Black AN Hose
After several year the hose with the rubber liner will get stiff. There are other types as mentioned that will hold up better but are much heavier and more expensive.
I have had to replace mine as well. And I work at Holley/Earls Robin |
