Starting point
Hi everyone, I was on here last year with the turbo 400! well that's gone and I got the glide now.
My car is 3545 race weight and goes 10.40's all out so I don't have much to stop. Am I correct in thinking due to the weight I should come off the stop in first gear? I'm looking to fast track the learning curve a bit. I also haven't set my cruise rpm yet either. 5200 rpm stall converter. If you guys have any starting suggestions I'd like to hear them. Thanks, Brad |
Re: Starting point
This will get a LOT of opinions about what to do about only slowing down .4-.5. To get your second timer number into a manageable window, I would set the stop/stall about 4500-4600. Shift at about .8-1 second. I believe that if you set the stop/stall lower, your second timer number window will be so small that it will be inconsistent for weather changes.

all out using the playback tach and a stopwatch, lol, the shift comes about 2.6 seconds 6500 rpm. If that helps any???

Re: Starting point
I would recommend coming of the stop in first gear due to how little time you will be on the stop, and the weight of the car. I come off in first gear in Super Comp with my altered for the same reasons....car heavy and not on the stop long. It is also easier on the high clutch in the glide.....

Thank you. I'm diving right in to a big event this weekend, but you gotta pull the trigger sooner than later!! I'm trying to be a sponge and soak up as much as I can!!

Re: Starting point
You can always turn the stop on at the end of the track. You are likely to be the slower car anyway. I did this when my car wasn't fast enough to stop it properly at the start.
Turn it on at about 10 sec into the run and keep it on through the rest of the run. In this case you will change the first number in your timer to adjust your ET. Set the second number to something long enough that the stop will not turn off until you are well past the finish. |
Re: Starting point
Ricki does that still work using the crew chief pro program? I have yet to use it for throttle stop predictions?
