Ford wheel stud knurls?
Having not worked on Ford stuff for better than 30 some odd years. These wheel studs are giving me fits. I found out there are both .593 and .615 knurls for press in wheel studs. I now have a good collection of extra studs, LOL!
Wanted to start getting ready to do the front brakes on my car. I pressed out the studs in a new set of front rotors. Had sets of both of the above, neither of those fit the hole. Measured the studs from the rotor, they measure .553? OK, gimmee some guidance here. I know I'm not the first person to run into this. Just looking through the catalogues, I don't see anything listed. I'm not opposed to reaming out the holes. Past experience doing this has been mixed results. |
Re: Ford wheel stud knurls?
Robert,
The Ford Mustangs that are sold for road racing have .549" listed size for the knurl for the front stud which is probably the size you have. They are kind of pricey but you can look at a set on eBay, item number 270365306997. Ford Racing part number M-1107-A. best regards, Roland |
Re: Ford wheel stud knurls?
I drilled out the rotor holes on a drill press with a 39/64 drill bit, and pressed in the .615 studs. They have been on my 1989 Mustang GT stocker since 1998.
