Jim Caughlin SS/ES
Congrats for the runner up, BTW does anyone have any info on the combination Jim runs. I searched on Auto Imagery and found a pic of a beautiful white car looked like a pinto running SS/compact back in the early 2000's. I assume this was a 2300 pinto engine. The qualifying sheets for the Div 6 race said a ford Escort. I was unable to find anything or pics of the car on the web. I enjoy seeing a "thinking out of the box" off the beaten path combination do well. Don Jackson

Re: Jim Caughlin SS/ES
Jims likely still driving home (JK, he lives close enough that he could drive his car to the track at Woodburn!) Jim ran a Pinto for many years, but for the past few years, he has been running his Escort. (RWD conversion, Jim built.) It has a 2.3L Ford 4 cylinder, and a G Force 5 speed, and a lot of RPM. The Pinto is taking a nap in the garage.

Here's the car at the first Combo race at Pacific Raceway. It was the number one qualifier.

X2 on the congrats to Jim. Great driving and dialing all the way to the final under long waits and wild weather.
That Escort hauls! It's something to see that little thing leave second and run down and pass a thumping V8 super stocker on the top end. |
