Mopar Indy 440-1 heads breaking rockers

All of the sudden this thing is breaking the rockers through the adjuster threads from the shaft up diagonally up through the threads there 1.6 Indy rockers. The car ran all season last year no problems this year we broke two on different cylinders end exhaust #2 and 8 any Ideas.

Maybe there is a service life.

I've heard very bad things about the Indy rockers. I run Indy heads on my bracket cars, one being a small block with T&D rockers and the other is a big block with Harland Sharps. I heard the horror stories so never bothered buying the Indy rockers.

If you ran all season with no issue and nothing else has changed, I would agree that the service life of the rocker is at it's end.

Yes they ride on full roller bearings and I like them very well. I'll probably have to knock on some wood now but I have had the same rocker arms in service for eight seasons. I am just running the Ez-1 head on my big block so no offset rockers but they have held up great.

X2 on Harland Sharps. I ran them years ago on a W-2 head 360 and literally put thousands of runs on them bracket racing 2, sometimes 3, days a week. I ran a big solid cam, no rollers, but they took a lot of abuse. I have a standard set on my IHRA Stocker now, which actually has more spring pressure than my bracket motor did! I have the caged rollers. I believe they had actual needle bearing when they first came out. They also have the aluminum body on the shaft with no rollers for some budget applications.

Indy rocker have a short life if you get a few hundred runs out off them you are doing good .. they always break off at the adjuster when their life span is over...Indy sell a lot off rocker arms and now you know why ..buy a set of harland sharp and you will be much happier

Quality of the Rockers might not be good, who knows, but checking spring pressure is an excellent idea. Bouncing them is no good.
