85 camaro carb

Alright guys, I'm making the plunge. Bought a 85 camaro 305 car. I know it really needs a good carb. I think the numbers it needs are 202 or edlebrock 1901. I have a name in mind to call but just wanting an opinion on the best or if anybody has one they want to sell. Car ran in IHRA in H/I/J but NHRA makes it a G/H/I car if I'm not mistaken.

Does it have to be the same number in the classification guide or are there others that you can use. Seen alot for sale but none match the number I need. I would think as long as the measurements are the same you could use it

Jamie,

I am pretty sure you can use any 750 cfm Q-jet GM makes .... In the pass they made you use certain numbers only, but that changed back 4-5 years ago... Before you could only use a Chevy Q-jet, now you can use a BOP Q-jet also... The Best thing to do is call you Div 2 tech guy and he will help you out !!! (always pays to be safe, before buying anything check with them first !!! ) Good Luck & welcome to the Jungle ? I think they are 750 cfm only !!!!

Thanks Dave, I am waiting on Harry Ferrari to email me back. I have been around stockers forever. My brother is Jeff Hairrington, he drives a 14 cobrajet in Div 2 and my dad Keiland Hairrington is making a comeback in a K/SA malibu. I'm pretty sure Harry will tell me the same thing you did but I wanted to be on the safe side and get direct word from Div 2 Tech.

Haven't heard back yet but I found a 207 carb that I had a well known stocker engine builder fix for me several years ago(like 10 years ago, LOL). Gonna freshen it and compare it to the one on the car now.

Jamie, the malibu your dad will be driving is it the black one with "Safari"? on the side of it? I have seen Jeff drive one like that before. If so who is doing your engine work? Have fun.
