J/SA combination???
In a 80 Olds Cutlass what is "the best" engine killer combination for J/SA ?? Chevy or Olds and which engine to be a virtual record setting combination?? FED 387

I have a real nice solid 1980 buick regal limited for sale.Would make a great stocker and can use the olds ,and chevrolet engines.

I'm not really sold on the reliability of the 77-80 Olds 350 engine either. The cylinder head castings are lightweights and notorious for cracking as well as the "windowed" lightweight blocks for failing. An earlier year block can be substituted but the head bolts are a different diameter and modifications have to be made. On the other hand, Don Forester always ran very well with the Olds 350 and in a variety of body styles to boot. I think it could be made to work, just not easily. That, however, can make the potential reward all the more gratifying! |

I would say the best combo for the money is the 305ci Chevy @ 235HP vs the Olds 307ci @ 250HP... Check it out on Dwight Southland Class Racer site, gives you all the answers... Good Luck & Welcome !!! |
