Maple Grove resurface...

I saw Maple Grove is going all concrete now. So what is the opinion on this from the racers? How much do you think the track will pick up in et?

Don't know how much faster but maybe it will stop the water problem. I guess they'll put a french drain system under the track surface. Hope is isn't directed over to the pit field, there's enough of a problem there already.

It depends how much they grade it down hill! Lol. You would think concrete would be a little faster just based on temperature.

Since the first 770 is concrete now can you tell the difference on the first half to the black topped back half?

It's interesting that Maple Grove sent to all-concrete and Charlotte went the other way. Both have had weeper problems in past years.

Would you get weepers with a concrete surface or would water pressure from under the track move concrete?

Concord's weepers were at the seam at the finish line. If the hydrostatic pressure gets high enough, the concrete will crack, so the concrete has to have properly drained foundation, just like asphalt. In other words, you can't just scrape off the asphalt and replace it with concrete if you have existing drainage problems.
