1965 chevelle super stock owners
I am trying to locate my old 1965 Chevelle, that I built in 1972 as a SS/P car, later NHRA in shuffling classes around, it became, SS/M. After I built my 1966 Chevy 2, SS/K car 1978, I sold the Chevelle to Mike Short, of Pine Village Indiana. He raced it until about 1982 or so, until he was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. Sadly Mike passed away about 2 years ago. I have spoken to his widow, she did provide me with some pictures of the car as Mike raced it, and copies of the paper work, when I sold him the car. The car was a light metallic blue when Mike raced it. His wife thought he sold it in the early 80's, to someone there in Indiana. The paper work did provide me with the VIN number 458 37K 171 439. So all you racers that have a 1965 Chevelle, check your VIN, you may have It. When I had the car, it was a many time national class winner, Division 5 runner up twice, and in 1977, I beat Judy Lilly for the Division 5 championship.

Re: 1965 chevelle super stock owners
There is a Chevelle in division 1 which is the same color and had the old cragar wheels like your picture shows that he replaced a couple of years ago. It is the Jim Fontana SS car that won E-Town national event last year.

Re: 1965 chevelle super stock owners
VIN number 45837K171439 would be the serial number on a 1964 Chevelle SS built in Kansas City. Early on it was not unusual for 1964 Chevelles to be switched over to 1965 models. The main reason was for several years only 10 bolt rearends were allowed in 1964 Chevelles while in the 1965 model year a 12 bolt rear was allowed.

You are correct, it does have a 1964 title, as that is what I used to build it. By changing the front clip, and number of other things, I did race it as a 1964 at times. As you know in those days we could not add, or subtract weight, or weigh with the driver. So we did what we had to do, to fit the class. I was at a further disadvantage because I weighed about 225# in those days, while most of my national competition drivers, were about 110# to 125#. Just ask my good friends, Jimmie Bridges, or Rodger Rosebush, what they weighed in those days. One of the best things NHRA did in the late 70's was to weigh with the driver, and add or subtract a little weight. It wasn't as much as it is now but it helped guys like me a whole bunch. Hope you can find it, Eddie. I'm pretty sure where the '64 front clip ended up. ;).
