NHRA what is wrong with you?
 

I have a question for NHRA. Who is in charge of creativity at NHRA. I just finish watching on of the early Pinks all out from Virginia and couldn't help notice the incredible fun the racers and fans(a lot of them) were having. Don't tell me that we couldn't come up with something as competitive as an Arm Drop? Now with the controversy with Street Racer(Dumb Dumber). NHRA should be on top of this with some intelligent programming towards Racers, Fan and would be participants. Competition Eliminator, Stock &Super Stock has all the Diva's, premadonnas,we have Cooters, Swampers, Wife and Husbands of the South,North,East $West, also Low Rollers and High Rollers, people who can talk from under the car and over the car, We even have nudity, RV's and animal lovers(should give us some PETA love). Forget the pro's you're loosing a fortune paying ESPN 3 for broadcasting that garbage. Promote the little guy, bracket racing(cars only, no tubes) would be an improvement over the pro crap. Come on NHRA get with the program! Claude Ruel

Both people that sit in the stands to watch us run at national events would probably watch that show. LOL

Let NHRA get out of their deal with espn and get hooked up wit MAVTV and I think things might change gor the better !! It could not get worse.........:-(

Everything is too sanitized. It's not about being squeaky clean any more. It is about "Reality" and real personality people can identify with.. You know, the guy that lives down the street that.... That is what sells. The ship is sailing away from port.

Sometimes it is unfortunate that NHRA is the "standard bearer" for drag racing. In the real world, someone will promote "the fastest sport on wheels"....and others will complain about it.... How would one promote 200 MPH drag cars when NASCAR's do it for 200 laps. Very simply, NHRA has to separate themselves.....and that is done with 300 MPH fuel cars. I am a sportsman racer for over 50 years. The world has changed, a kid today doesn't know a 68 Hemi Dart from a Toyota....I say, let's be thankful for what we have.

^^ Yep, these are great days indeed for gearheads. Lots of different forms of racing.

I agree that NHRA might be missing a fantastic opportunity to expand by including the arm drop/ no time type grudge racing.
I could never afford the heads up type of racing, but it is fun to watch.

But, NHRA is what it is and most likely will never stray away from their comfort zone.
Might be good, might be bad.

But one thing is for sure...we live in the greatest country in the world when it comes to motorsports. :)

The Pinks All Out format might look cool on TV, but it is not for NHRA class racers. The entrants pay $50 or so entry depending on the track, and there is no guarantee that you will be in the show. After 2 or 3 time runs, the show producers pick 16 cars that are close together in ET. Usually the biggest group is in the 10.00 to 10.50 range. The payout is winner-take-all. I would not waste my time and money entering an event where the qualifiers are based on these parameters. I need to have a legitimate shot at taking home some money every time I race to keep my racing program alive.

Well said.......NHRA drag racing does have to seperate themselves this is so true. Lets be very thankful for what we have. I'm happy NHRA is not getting on a roller coaster to the "dark side" reality TV culture that some thinks NHRA needs. Let them race how the want to....seperately.
