Super six

Anyone using this combo? Found a mint '81 Diplomat has a /6 and also a 318 2 BBL. 110/140 makes the 6 look better.

Re: Super six

Run as 80 with 360 or 318 4Brl and it is viable
6 with 2 BRl is possible.....I had a friend that ran one in
80 Aspen Wagon with success. Maybe Phillip will chime
in and tell you how fast.

318 2 Brl never would run index for me.

Mike killed it with his runs at Denver time after time..........318 or 360 is a better way to go now. I have the complete drivetrain out of my wagon available for sale if anyone wants to run it. Complete engine trans and converter, I'll take $3000 for it all with spares. I have that into the trans and converter. Good for .60 under now. Set the record in 05 before Mike went goofy.

That is a steal for a former national record holder!

What did the combo get another 5 or 6 HP?

That would be a ton for a six cylinder combo.

Five ..That's 110 #'s in V/SA
Still 140 with a stick...Yes, in a Diplomat.
Aspen ,Volare still 140 , with a shorter wheelbase .
Just need a 2 dr car too.
Unless I'm missing something...

House of Darts, let's go over this one more time, 20 years ago I went faster than stink with a 230/140 Chevy with a bunch less cam, a PowerGlide, a ONE BBL carb and 3 less intake ports. Yes, it's a stupid good combo to build even if you couldn't hit your butt with both hands and even if it did get 5 HP. The only better ones would be the 258 AMC and the 252 Buick. My old 230 can't come close to any one of these.

Mike never went "goofy". His intention from the time he bought that car was to set a national record and he did. He spent a lot of time on Bogner's dyno looking for stuff, as well as working over the whole car. He worked his butt off and deserves all the success he has had.

OP, if you are serious, I can PM you Mike's number. He is aware of this thread and he will give you an idea what you're in for.

Setting the record is one thing, Killing the HP just to be #1 qualifier repeatedly is "goofy". It took us a few years to get the HP lowered enough for us to set a record just to have him put it back on and ruin the combo.

He can still run over a second under, the combo is nowhere near ruined. He went 1.0 under at Tri-State last year with his bracket setup in the car.
