Lokar Anchor Tight trans dipstick

ANybody else have a hard time getting the right fluid level/reading on your lokar dipstick? This is the one that has the nut inside the pan. It seems like the tube is small and the end of the checker is big and all you do is drag fluid from the sides of the tube that you just put in and you get a full/over full reading when you know its not... I figure it will check it again after it has set and then you're only good for one attempt...hehe

They (Lokar dip sticks) are kind of a pain in the rear
to read.

Never tried one Brent...any help maybe to roughen up the end of the stick with some sandpaper or such?

So it's not just me. It looks like it's empty an then BAM overfill...

They are a bit of pain to read. After adding fluid, I usually hop in the car and drop it in gear a couple of times, then hop out and re-check it, looking at both sides of the stick. By then, you can typically read it more easily.

Yea, same here... one second, nothing, then add a quart
and it looks overfilled...
I do the same , put in gear and recheck.... you just
can't recheck after you've added... I'm thinkin the end needs
to be ground off, so it won't retain so much.fluid...
if i.could find.correct dipstick.for the.car, i.would probably.
go back...thought this would ease Trans removal/swaps...I always
check.both sides of the stick, too

If you have a tube/stick that fits maybe you could just get one of these plugs for when finished level check... http://www.jegs.com/i/ATI/085/973081...78#moreDetails

Be aware that any aftermarket stick and tube can read improperly. However in my experience Lokar is hard to fill and usually not reporting the correct depth of fluid.
I like to verify the depth with the pan off. The full line Hot should Not be above the pan rail.

I have trouble reading the Lokar also. I run a metric 200, seems to be fine at current level, but just curious how might the trans act if it is somewhat over filled?

I wish i'd thought to check it like that, Lou... However, the original dipstick always read funky til you got the level close...not sure why...

I 'll figure it out...hehe
