Wondering what type of struts are best for a 3rd gen Camaro stocker? On a budget of course!!!

Maybe not the answer you want, but here goes. Maybe someone else will jump in.
I had an 87 Firebird 305 stocker about 10 years ago. Had stock front struts. Pulled wheels about 6-10 inches depending. I ask same question then. Several people with faster 3rd Gen cars than mine told me not to waste my money there... spend $ on rear end and motor, trans etc.
Fronts work fine for stockers, until very fast and really standing them up. Then not cheap, must buy really good stuff to see improvement.
I never got that far before selling it. But never had trouble hooking, even with lot of gear,lot of converter, metric and 9" radials.

I gotta agree with ken on this one, I raced a 3rd gen camaro for 15 years in stock and really never saw a giant gain in the front struts but did eventually swap them when we got down to looking for that last 4-5 hundredths. When you do swap them there's numerous quality pieces but the santhuffs or a modified Afco from randy mans is the only two I'd even consider...

Thanks boys, the car won't leave and really tight in the front with only a couple of inches of movement in the front.

I don't have a stocker, but I do have a 3rd gen bracket car. I have cheapo Lakewood style 90/10's and solid lower control arm bushings and a lot of frt. end movement. If you do some research you will find that you can use Fox Mustang frt. struts by machining the spindle down to accept them. I'll probably try this next with a set of Strange struts for a Mustang.

I built a 3rd gen Camaro for a customer, small block footbrake car. We used the Koni's, worked pretty good, but we had too much bounce after the launch. We sent the struts to True Choice to be modified into a double adjustable unit. Costed quite a bit to get them changed. If we had it to do over again we would have left well enough alone.
