Gear Lube
Foolish question but what is the way to go now with gear lube - conventional/synthetic and what SAE 75W-90 ???

Re: Gear Lube
You can find some stuff with search... opinions vary.
I like synthetic. Seems more consistent first run on, even cold. Not sure if gives any different life? Many run little lower level than street car. We just don't get them hot drag racing, compared to street or roundy round. Good luck Ken Stock 412 |
Re: Gear Lube
I use and always have used a synthetic 75/90.
Castrol or Royal Purple. I use it in both my 12 Bolt and Jerico DR4. Terry K |
Re: Gear Lube
I've been using Amsoil synthetic Severe Gear 75w-90 for years with great results. It's in my dually as well. But when time permits, I try to break-in the differential with conventional stuff before flushing and replacing it with Amsoil.

Re: Gear Lube
I have had good luck with synthetic in my Dana. I have used 75/90w from Valvoline, Lucas, Mobile 1 all with good results. I literally get several thousand runs on a gear set with no apparent wear. The last gear I took out had at least 10 seasons and the gear was perfect. I changed ratio was the reason for taking it out. I do run the rear end full of lube. I did not find any ET in running a low oil level in the rear.
