Fire at NRC conversions
The building that houses NRC conversions in Middlebury, Indiana caught fire today. Apparently there were no fire hydrants close by to help firefighters extinguish the blaze....HUH. .???. M.J.

It's at the intersection of nowhere and noplace, just off of US-131 and just south of the Indiana/Michigan line..

Re: Fire at NRC conversions
I just googled Elkhart, IN news and found a brief report, and it doesn't look good. I've been there many times over the years and they're great guys. I can't imagine how many people's trucks were destroyed in addition to the building. Very sad to see. Hope everyone had stout insurance.

Re: Fire at NRC conversions
One local news article reports that employees were able to remove a few RV trucks from the building before the fire escalated. Thankfully no one was hurt in the blaze.M.J.

Re: Fire at NRC conversions
I really hate to hear this. The guys at NRC are great, they have worked on my motor home numerous times. Always quality work at a fair price. Knowing them, they will be back to work soon.

Think our pumper trucks have some reserve water capacity but I don't think we have any tanker trucks because of the municipal hydrants. Fire is bad, loss of goods is one part, but take a trip to a burn ward once, awful. Hope everyone gets thru it ok. |
Re: Fire at NRC conversions
That is really bad news. Those guys are really great people. I have a new unit ordered, and the truck was set to arrive this week. I tried to call, but don't know if the phones are in service or not. I built my first coach when they were in a big barn in White Pigeon near where they are now. That was in the 90's. I think they did the first conversion and created this industry.

Re: Fire at NRC conversions
For all of us loyal customers of NRC, they have a goal to be back open by the middle of May. Super stock racer Garrett Ghezzi was down there and talked with them. Only 1 motorhome was damaged in the fire. They got all the rest of them out. They also were able to save their computers and customer files. Their insurance company seems to be working very well for them including keeping their employees paid while they are off.
Thanks for this good news, Garrett! Just thought I would pass the word along. |
