Air bag kits
OK, guys, need some input. Looking for a rear airbag kit for my 1990 3500 Chevy dually. Truck needs a little help.
Air Lift? Firestone? Thanks, Todd |

Todd
Etrailer .com is where I got mine, good price and quick shipping. I have the Air Lift set up and don't have a problem. You need a Ford Motor to put it that Bowtie?? LOL Where where you at Houston?? Let me know if you need something signed. RJ |
Re: Air bag kits
Used an AirLift kit several years ago, with good results. No experience with the Firestone kit.
Did just install an AirLift bag kit in the rear of my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and the quality seemed good, and install was easy. Good luck. Ken Stock 412 |
Re: Air bag kits
I have only used the Air Lift brand kits on all my trucks I have owned.
Very happy with the quality. :) Well worth the 300 bucks or so. |

Thanks for all the replies on this.

Re: Air bag kits
I've used both brands. No difference or problems with either.
3 tow vehicles...... 2 pickups with Firestones. First set was over 10 years old and never leaked. Have a set in my current truck about 5 years old, no leaks. Just put a set of Air Lifts in my Motorhome and they work just as well. |
Re: Air bag kits
Here is another option. Supersprings. I put them on my Kodiak Motorhome and the ride is fine with or without the trailer. Don't worry about them losing air either.

Re: Air bag kits
Had problems with a rocks puncturing holes in mine.
Very odd because there is only one way to get them hit. Right in front of the rear tire is a straight shot in between the springs. Replaced 4 of them over the years right and left and the same locations. So got a piece of thick flexible vinyl and wrapped them between the spring and airbag. Seems to be working and the Spring does not wear again the bag. Dan |
Re: Air bag kits
I've been very happy with the Airlift Loadlifter 5000 that I purchased for my Suburban. I had a set of Helwig over-load springs on the truck, and while they worked very well, they weren't adjustable and gave me a very harsh ride when I didn't have the trailer connected. If I have a chance this Summer I'm going to upgrade the installation with their on-board compressor system.
