question about '67 GTXs

Stopped by a local tire shop this morning to get my old ET Fronts swapped out and in one of the bays was a beautiful 67 "GTX". The reason I'm hesitant on whether it was real or a well done clone, is that when I looked inside, I saw a column shift Tourqeflite instead of the usual consoles I've seen the last 48 years since they were new. I'm no Mopar expert so I surrender to the masses here, and ask was a column shift available on these cars or did someone go to a lot of trouble and cover up a Sattelite? The white interior even had the GTX emblem between the back seats, and it seemed all the proper emblems and trim were on the exterior, which was burgundy. Overall, it was a gorgeous car and no,, I never looked under the hood. Thanks for any info.

Column shift was standard unless you ordered the console shift. I have seen instances where the console was ordered, but the console shift was not. There was a special delete plate for the shifter area on the console in this case, and the shifter was still column mounted. The GTX did come with bucket seats in all cases, a buddy seat was also available in lieu of the console.

That's correct.
In my early days, I saw an original 1970 Challenger T/A with a column shifter.

my most favorite car was a 67 gtx-dark brown exterior with champagne interior-auto on the column with the mother in-law seat between the buckets-sold it with 300,000 plus miles--best in street trim was 12.69-back in the eighties -love the box type styling-sorry -brings back good memories---dave

Correct as was the 67 Dodge Coronet R/T typically you got a arm rest along with the buddy seat I bought a blue on blue column shift R/T trade in when I worked at GSD I only paid $250 in 1971 for it as it had a bad trans which I eventually warranteed ;)
the 440 ran like a champ 13.90's with 3.55 gears and 2.5 dumps on street tires I still have the F/OA AHRA class win trophy from US.30 :) ironically I beat a ram air 428 torino gummed up with headers in the final seems like yesterday. $4 entry + a dollar for a tech card to race class or ET brackets those were the days
