NHRA Launches Live Timing for Lucas Oil Series Events ?
What does everyone think about NHRA now doing live timing at divisional races. I have not seen anyone talk about It yet. I'm thinking its pretty cool, lots of us are looking for qualifying at the division races, but we know DRC can only do so much. This might help fill that void.
I do wonder how the format will be. I wish NHRA would make it more user friendly than the national live timing, less animation and more info would be nice, kind of like the way 1320go does it. Lets here some of your thoughts. |

This could be a good thing but realize that Live Timing is not going to be available at all D1 events because it is tied into the Compulink system just as our system was tied in. Lebanon Valley runs on Portatree, so Live Timing will not work there. It will also not work at Compulink tracks that do not have a working data feed to tap into. Virginia never worked properly, so I always had to enter everything manually, as I had to do at Lebanon Valley. The rest of the D1 tracks have the correct hookup, though each had a problem at one time or another that prevented me from getting the datafeed. DRC is going to continue to post results remotely at the end of the day. I am going to continue to put summaries and recaps on my website to build an archive. Jim |
Re: NHRA Launches Live Timing for Lucas Oil Series Events ?
Live timing should be modified so it does not show some info that an opponent can look at and gauge how to race someone else
Do not show RT's and incremental times.... Racing should be a bit of a guessing game....or Chess match if you prefer that term... The added info helps some and hurts others... Just an observation and opnion from someone who has been in the sport nearly 50 years...... |
Re: NHRA Launches Live Timing for Lucas Oil Series Events ?
The Portatree system at Lebanon Valley DOES support NHRA/Compulink style live timing (as do all of our Professional Systems). It also supports another style of live timing that is used in the Middle East. We are also open to making changes to help.

NHRA Div. 3 also has live video this year, see "D3TV" on www.nhradiv3.com.
All IHRA events are broadcast live on www.motormaniatv.com, with end-of-day qualifying/results posted on their sister site, www.dragstory.com. |

I believe the system is set up so that it does not show RTs and incrementals until; after the run has been completed. |
