69 Camaro Rear wheel question

Building a 69 camaro for A/SA with moser 12 bolt , 5.13 gears. Wanted to ask the question - what rim size (size & back spacing) and tire size does everyone recommend? Thanks so much!

9" wide 5" backspace. 9x30 radial. That's what we have on Tabitha's 69.

Re: 69 Camaro Rear wheel question

I am running 10" wide with 4.5" backspace Welds on my 67 Firebird. As Robbie said, there is room for the 5" backspace.
I like the wider rim with the radials and bias.

Good Luck.

A 9" wide rim will likely cause crowning. We have a 10" rim on Kevin's 427/425 69 Camaro. We won't be changing that for the 396/375.

Oh ok great, the 427/425 combo is what we will be running. Did you see a major difference between the radials vs bias ply with that combo?

We've always run the Hoosier light weight radials.

I'm not real sure I'd run a 5.13, unless you're running really bad air, and bias ply tires.

If you don't mind going a little off topic, Alan and Bpozzi,, whats the lifter of choice being used in the 427/425s. I've got a buddy snooping around that combo, so I'd like to steer him in the right direction. Thanks for any info.

These days, I use only Trend tool steel. On a steel billet cam, coated. On a cast iron core, uncoated. The coated NASCAR level lifter is very expensive, but it just plain works for steel billet cams.
