How many times have you assembled braided lines and fittings and never tried to look down the hose ( when length allowed ) to see if there were any obstructions. I recently plumbed an entire system when I decided to look......it was not good. The lining of the braided line was cut into and "rolled up" by the fitting so badly it almost blocked the flow of the line.......it was an Earl Auto Fit fitting......I can't count how many of these I have used over the years. The Russell or Aeroquip did not destroy the interior of the hose. Having strange things happen to fuel pressure ??? You may want to look.

the "push lock" style hose is a valid option. I have several situations were it has been in service for several seasons with no problem.

Another valid option is the black, "fabric covered" style [example, Aeroquip Startlite]

Both the above hose options are soooo much easier to work with.

Never liked Earls. Too much of a hassle. Never could understand why they have a lip to bite into the hose.

Aeroquip or Russell have been my preference, but usually Aeroquip first. Never had a problem getting them on and never had a failure, knock on wood.

Thanks for tip though. Can't hurt to check.

I agree about Aeroquip and Russell fittings, they are a good design.

I usuallly use the generic summit or Jegs brand fittings. I have never had a problem with their stuff. Good price. No failures or leaky fittings

They call that obstruction a "flap", should always put the oposite ends near a light so you can see through the hose to look for that when making up a hose. If it has a 45 or 90 degree fitting, I always put that end on first, and look throgh from the other end. Angled fittings on both ends makes that a little harder to check after the second fitting is assembled. I have never had a problem with Earl's, but they may have changed them since I used them.

I've used the Fragola Series 2000 fitting on steel-braided rubber hose without any issues when plumbing my fuel system. I've also found using an assembly aid called a Koul-Tool had made installing the fittings much easier and much less PAINFUL!
