Re: IHRA Champs
One thing's for sure, it sure is a sportsman friendly system. Finish Top 3 in your division, and then win one race filled with nothing but the seasons big dogs.

Just like the Jegs Allstars

Re: IHRA Champs
I've won under both systems. I like them both. Lot of pressure to make top 3 to even get shot. Then to make the show is an awesome atmosphere. Lots o season long championships are over at mid season.
That being said a lot of satisfaction and dedication I winning a season long battle. |
Re: IHRA Champs
I like it. It brings the best of the best to and everybody that has qualified gets a shot. When the TOC comes around, you better bring your A game!

Re: IHRA Champs
I won it both ways also I personally don't like it because it makes whoever is the luckiest that day the winner. Someone could dominate all season long and end up going red by 001. just my .02 cents

Re: IHRA Champs
I've beat this horse for years but I hate it! I had a few good years from 2005-2010. In 09 I won 3 division races and runnered up 2 or something like that...by far my best season ever. Problem was it was the first year of the TOC. In the TOC race my water pump went out 2nd round and car overheated...didn't even finish in the top 10 but won more races than anyone in the country in any class!!! The national champion should be based on the whole season, not one race. The new format is more like an all star race, which is great. IHRA used to have their version of the allstar race first sponsored by Holley then later by Summit. That's my .02 cents!
